Instead of wondering whether or not Neil MacInnis really told 4chan that he was about to shoot up a mall (based on an unsubstantiated and likely doctored thread) how about we take a look at HIS REAL FACEBOOK PROFILE and the profiles of his friends and relatives? Those are still up, and have plenty of publicly accessible info that paints a picture of his values and of those around him.
I still don’t know why we’re supposed to believe that the alleged Virginia Mall shooter thread wasn’t tampered with. Here I demonstrate how to change the dates. It should be noted that post timestamps and tripcodes can be falsified in the exact same way.

“In terms of their engagement with media, and based on the marked similarities between trolling and sensationalist media practices, I would argue that trolls jam the culture not by directly challenging the dominant culture, but by embodying the dominant culture, specifically by exploiting the very sensationalist imperative that keeps advertisement revenues high.” - Whitney Phillips

So many Urlbots. Mark yr calendars.
We’re hurt we weren’t invited, but we’ll still bring punch and pie.
Looks like “The Worst Feeling” is going around on 4chan.
EDIT: Woah! This image has been around since at least 2007. It doesn’t have a First World Problem on it… more like whiny emo kid… but I love how much of a cliche this is.

Last night I got an invite for Canv.as, the next project from 4chan founder Chris Poole. Canv.as isn’t meant to be a replacement for 4chan, but it’s shaping up to be a whole lot of fun. There have been some reposts of older material so far, but it makes creation of original content all too easy. Take a look at my first-hand experience.
I like tip #5. :)
