Have you ever noticed how much Katy Perry’s “Wide Awake” sounds like Lenny Kravitz’s “Fly Away?”

“Wide Awake” was recorded at 162 BPM, is 3:45 long, and has a chord progression of EmGAD.

“Fly Away” was recorded at 160 BPM, is 3:42 long, and has a chord progression of ACGD.

Without doing any cutting or transposing, only a very slight tempo change, both songs harmonize with each other. The staccato rhythms of the verse lyrics are also quite similar. More remarkably, they change from verse to chorus to bridge at almost all of the same moments, and both begin and end at the same time.
